Gradient of Happiness arrives as the follow up to “The Hedonic Treadmill and Paradise Engineering ”. The final sequence in Filardo’s photographic study paralleling the work of transhumanist figure David Pearce. Filardo uses image making to explore the relationship of photography to technology, human advancement, and happiness. A mix of world building and real world encounters this body of work illustrates the similarities between human myth and reality. The world is on fire. Is this the beginning or the end or humanity?
Taken over a five year span the images in this collection are from all over the domestic United States. Each book is hand vacuum sealed by the artist and contains a metal tag with the book title and an engraved signature from the artist as well. Limited to 100 copies.
